Part 2 of 4 of Sources. Base: the model layer.

Every connected integration is now a pull source, and every source has one health status.

  • sources.integration_id: one source per integration row (scrape target, Google Cloud connector, Railway, PlanetScale, Cloudflare, GitHub installation), unique per org and platform. Listing sources reconciles them (reads sources first, so a poller's new source is never dropped); pollers create theirs on first use.
  • One health model in @maple/domain/source-health: pending, healthy, stale, failing, paused, disconnected. Push sources read the gateway's last_used_at; pull sources reuse the integration inventory (so list_integrations and sources agree), with Google Cloud covered for the first time. /v2/sources returns it as health.
  • The Prometheus scraper, Railway, Cloudflare analytics, Google Cloud metrics and GitHub CI traces stamp maple_source_id on what they send, through one shared resolver. Attribution is best effort: a failed lookup logs and sends without the attribute.
  • New MCP tool list_sources: every source worst health first, with the src_ ids that filter telemetry.

Verification

  • Backend: 271 tests across sources, org and the five pollers (each asserts the stamped attribute). API: 256 v2 and scraper-internal tests. AI: list_sources tests in integration-tools.test.ts. Domain: source-health.test.ts, OpenAPI and contract tests.
  • Reviewed twice; findings fixed (reconcile race, cap counting pull sources, inventory outage handling, duplicated resolvers).

Stack: #1535 model → #1536 integrations → #1537 gateway → #1538 UI

🤖 Generated with Claude Code

Summary by CodeRabbit

  • New Features
    • Added a source-listing tool that shows data sources, delivery details, health status, and last-data timestamps, with optional platform filtering.
    • Source listings now include health information, such as pending, paused, failing, or healthy status and any reported problem.
    • Source identifiers are attached to data collected from supported integrations and scrape targets, making it easier to trace data back to its source.

Every connected integration row (scrape target, GCP connector, Railway, PlanetScale,
Cloudflare, GitHub installation) is a pull source, keyed by sources.integration_id and
reconciled when sources are listed. Each source carries one health status (pending,
healthy, stale, failing, paused, disconnected) built from the gateway's last_used_at or
the integration inventory. Pollers and the scraper stamp maple_source_id on what they
send, and the list_sources MCP tool lists every source worst first.
Merges the model fixes. Review fixes: pollers share stampableSourceId and one name per
platform, ensureIntegrationSource reads before it inserts, pull and default rows come
from one builder, list reads sources before integration rows so a poller's new source
is never dropped, a pull source whose integration is gone reads as disconnected, and an
inventory outage degrades health instead of failing the list.

📝 Walkthrough

The change adds health data to source records and creates source records for integrations. It attaches public source IDs to scrape, metrics, and CI telemetry. It also exposes source health through the API and adds an MCP tool for listing sources.

Maple review

🟡 Confidence 6/10 · needs attention
Two confirmed misreports in the new health field; the poller test diffs were not read line by line.
quality 80/100 · 2 warnings · tests covered · risk medium · 4/4 new units observable

Gives every connected integration a pull source with a reconciled src_ id, adds one health model to /v2/sources and a new list_sources MCP tool, and stamps maple_source_id from the pollers and the scraper. Safe to merge, but two paths report the wrong health. None of the open errors is addressed: the ScrapeError frames in apps/scraper/src/Scraper.ts, the McpQueryError in apps/ai/src/mcp/tools/registry.ts and the SandboxSpawnError in apps/ai/src/mcp/dispatcher.ts are untouched by the additions there.

  • sources.integration_id plus a partial unique index on (org, platform, integration_id)
  • SourcesService.list reconciles one source per integration row, reads sources first
  • One source-health model: push reads last_used_at, pull reuses the inventory
  • list_sources MCP tool and maple_source_id stamping by the five pollers and the scraper

Findings

🟠 Warning · F1 · rowToSource gives pull sources push-derived health on the update path

correctness · packages/backend/src/services/org/SourcesService.ts:97

The new fallback computes health from pushSourceHealth({ status, lastUsedAt: row.lastUsedAt }) whenever no pullHealth is passed, and update (line 470, return rowToSource(row, now)) passes none. The guard at line 441 only refuses RULE_FIELDS on a pull row, so PATCH /v2/sources/{id} with name or description succeeds on a Prometheus/GCP source and answers health: { status: "pending", problem: null } — a pull row has no lastUsedAt — while GET for the same id (line 355) answers failing with the integration's problem. Resolve the integration's health in update the way get does, or look the row up through get, so no caller of rowToSource gets push semantics for a row with integrationId !== null.

🟠 Warning · F2 · Every row of a multi-row provider gets the same provider-wide health

correctness · packages/backend/src/services/org/integration-sources.ts:206-207

readIntegrationLinks emits one link per integration row, but every github row is assigned providerHealth("github"), and integration-inventory.ts:290 builds a single github entry that joins all installations (account joins every login, own is set only when no installation is active). With two installations, one revoked, each installation's source reports the same aggregate status and lastDataAt, so list_sources cannot say which installation lost its CI traces and a revoked one reads healthy. The same holds for the cloudflare rows at line 200, where CloudflareAnalyticsService.resolveSourceId (line 2626) additionally reads only limit(1) connection, so any second connection's source can never be stamped. Derive per-row health from the row's own installation/connection, or collapse a provider with a single row to one source.

Renaming an integration source answered with push health (pending); it now reads the
integration's health like get. A suspended or removed GitHub installation's source is
disconnected on its own instead of sharing the provider-wide status.

🟢 Confidence 7/10 · likely safe to merge
F1 is fixed and pinned by the new test; the new GitHub branch is untested and only partly fixes F2.
quality 90/100 · 1 warning · tests partial · risk medium · 3/3 new units observable

Integration-backed pull sources, one health model and list_sources; the update-path health bug is fixed, per-installation GitHub health only partly. The open scraper ScrapeError, McpQueryError and SandboxSpawnError issues are untouched.

  • SourcesService.update now answers integration rows via get, so a rename keeps the integration's health (F1 fixed)
  • readIntegrationLinks gives a suspended GitHub installation disconnected instead of the provider-wide status
  • readIntegrationLinks/ensureIntegrationSource reconcile one source per integration row on list
  • github links still share one inventory entry, so two active installations read the same health (F2 open)

Two active installations no longer share the provider-wide status: an installation's
source reads the repositories under its account. Suspended and removed installations

The delta since the last review gives each GitHub installation its own source health (githubInstallationHealth), so a multi-installation org no longer shows the provider-wide status on every row, with tests. Correct and safe to merge. The open ScrapeError, McpQueryError and SandboxSpawnError issues are transport, rate-limit and sandbox-budget failures the change neither addresses nor introduces.

Correct the documented stale threshold for pull sources.

The public description says that pull sources become stale after one integration poll interval, but the health calculations use source-specific thresholds. Describe the threshold generically instead of stating that it equals the poll interval.

📝 Suggested wording
- "`healthy`: data is arriving. `pending`: nothing has arrived yet. `stale`: data stopped arriving (a day for push sources, the integration's poll interval for pull sources). `failing`: the last attempt failed. `paused`: data is dropped on purpose. `disconnected`: the token expired or the integration was removed.",
+ "`healthy`: data is arriving. `pending`: nothing has arrived yet. `stale`: data stopped arriving beyond the source-specific freshness threshold (a day for push sources). `failing`: the last attempt failed. `paused`: data is dropped on purpose. `disconnected`: the token expired or the integration was removed.",

Review comment at @packages/domain/src/http/v2/sources.ts around lines 89 - 93:
Update the `status` description in the source schema to describe `stale` as data
stopped arriving beyond the source-specific freshness threshold, retaining the
one-day threshold for push sources and removing the claim that pull sources use
the integration’s poll interval.
