Walkthrough

The OpenAPI contract adds agent and session LLM fallback schemas and response fields. It updates configuration publishing requests and responses, adds WhatsApp to phone-number provider and session-source enums, and replaces the voice schema reference with PublicAgentVoiceConfig.

Changes: LLM fallback contract

Layer / File(s) Summary
Fallback configuration schemas
api-reference/openapi.json
Adds fallback modes, ordered models, custom endpoints, timeout and parallel settings, plus redacted read schemas.
Session overrides and fallback responses
api-reference/openapi.json
Adds the nullable session fallback override and documents create-session requirements. Session details expose fallback events and the model used for each message. Agent response schemas allow llm.fallback as an override.

Configuration publishing contract

Layer / File(s) Summary
Draft and publish request and response
api-reference/openapi.json
Publish requests can include configuration changes and an expected hash. Publish responses include the configuration snapshot and a created value. Draft and published configuration schemas reference PublicAgentVoiceConfig, and version summaries include labels, hashes, and publish timestamps.

WhatsApp enum values

Layer / File(s) Summary
Phone-number and session enums
api-reference/openapi.json
Adds whatsapp to phone-number provider and session-source enums.

Require exactly one of model or custom in each fallback entry.

AgentLLMFallbackModelPayload declares model and custom as independent nullable properties. No oneOf, not, or required keyword links them, so the schema accepts an entry with both selectors set and an entry with neither. The schema description says "One fallback, write model: model or custom," which the structure does not enforce.

Each fallback entry replaces the whole fallback, so an entry with neither selector has no model to write. An entry with both selectors is ambiguous. Schema-generated clients accept both forms.

Express the one-selector rule in the schema, for example with a oneOf that has two branches:

  • Branch 1 requires model as a non-null value from the existing enum and allows custom only as null.
  • Branch 2 requires custom as an AgentLLMCustomPayload and allows model only as null.

Keep {"model": "<value>", "custom": null} and {"model": null, "custom": {...}} valid, matching the explicit-null convention. Make this change in the upstream OpenAPI source that generates this file. A direct edit to this file is overwritten on the next regeneration.

Restrict parallel to the first fallback model in the schema.

The models array schema accepts parallel on every entry. The parallel description says "First entry only", but the schema does not enforce that position. Clients generated from this schema can attach parallel to later entries, and the schema does not mark those entries as invalid.

Because api-reference/openapi.json is regenerated from the source schema, apply this change in the generator source. A direct edit here can be overwritten by the next sync.

Use prefixItems for the first entry and a separate later-entry schema for the remaining entries. The later-entry schema is a copy of AgentLLMFallbackModelPayload without the parallel property.

Bound the models array and require it in manual mode.

AgentLLMFallbackPayload.models documents "Fallback models in order, 1 to 3. Only with mode manual." The schema does not enforce that. The array has no minItems or maxItems, and models is not required when mode is manual. The published schema therefore accepts "models": [], a list of four models, and a manual-mode payload that omits models. The description excludes all three.

A plain minItems: 1 and maxItems: 3 on the array would also reject [] in non-manual modes, where the description says the field does not apply. Express the bound and the manual-mode presence rule as a mode-conditional constraint. Check the spec's JSON Schema dialect before choosing the construct.

Make the change upstream. This file is generated from https://api.fish.audio/openapi.json, so an edit made only here will be overwritten by the next sync.

Reconcile the session llm.fallback description with the api_key requirement.

The session description says the override uses "same shape and rules" as llm.fallback. The same sentence also says each custom entry needs its api_key. The reused custom rules make api_key optional, and omitting it keeps the stored key. The two statements give different guidance for the same field. Generated clients and API readers cannot tell whether an omitted key is valid for a session custom entry.

State the session requirement directly and remove the reference to the reused rules:

+ "description": "Replaces the agent's `llm.fallback` for this session, same shape as `llm.fallback`. Each `custom` entry must include its `api_key`."

The endpoint description for overrides.llm.fallback (around line 953) repeats the same "same shape and rules" wording with the api_key requirement. Apply the same change there.

Enforce that AgentSessionLlmModelRef sets at most one of model and custom.

The description says the object holds "a platform model id in model, or a customer endpoint in custom." The schema defines model and custom as independent, nullable, optional properties. Each defaults to null, and the object has no constraint across the pair, so a value with both fields set validates.

AgentSessionLlmFallback.from and to and AgentSessionMessageItem.answered_by_model reference this schema. Clients generated from it receive two optional fields and cannot tell from the types which field identifies the model.

Add a constraint that rejects a reference where both fields are non-null. Place it beside properties in AgentSessionLlmModelRef:

"not": {
  "required": ["model", "custom"],
  "properties": {
    "model": { "type": "string" },
    "custom": { "$ref": "#/components/schemas/AgentSessionLlmCustomRef" }
  }
}

This constraint does not reject a reference with neither field set. Whether that case is valid for legacy or unknown references is for the upstream owner to decide.

api-reference/openapi.json is generated, so apply this change in the upstream OpenAPI definition. A local edit is overwritten on the next sync.

Constrain models to one to three entries when mode is manual.

PublicAgentLLMFallback accepts "models": [], lists with more than three entries, and an omitted models in every mode. The description limits the list to 1 to 3 entries in manual mode, but the schema has no minItems, maxItems, or conditional constraint. PublicAgentLLMPatch.fallback replaces the whole fallback, so an omitted list leaves the fallback with no models.

Add a conditional to the object. It requires a non-null array of one to three models only when mode is manual. Other modes are not changed.

Require exactly one selector in PublicAgentLLMFallbackModel.

The schema accepts a fallback entry that sets both model and custom. It also accepts an entry that sets neither. The custom description refers to the llm.custom rule, which makes custom mutually exclusive with model. The write-side fallback description also requires one model.

Fallback updates replace the whole fallback. An entry does not merge with an earlier entry. A two-selector or no-selector entry therefore has no defined meaning, and the spec does not say how the API handles one. An explicit null on the other selector stays valid, so {"model": "...", "custom": null} remains a valid entry.

Update the PublicAgentLLMFallbackModel schema to require exactly one non-null
selector: allow a string model with custom absent or null, or an object custom
with model absent or null. Reject entries where both selectors are non-null or
neither is provided.

19704-19705: Minor · Potential issue · Low value

AgentSessionLlmModelRef describes either a platform model or a custom endpoint, but neither selector is required or made exclusive. The schema therefore accepts {} and objects naming two models as valid fallback-event or message model references.

Invalid model attribution passes contract validation, leaving callers unable to determine which model produced a reply or received a fallback.

This can occur when: A session-detail producer emits an empty or doubly populated reference, or a consumer validates such a reference using this schema.

Update the AgentSessionLlmModelRef schema so each reference requires exactly one
of the platform model or custom endpoint selectors; reject empty objects and
objects containing both, while preserving the existing selector definitions.

4343-4343: Minor · Potential issue · Low value

The publish description says publishing copies the draft as stored and changes no field, while the version-snapshot description at line 4960 says config.updated_at becomes the publish time.

A caller following the unchanged-copy description can incorrectly treat the published snapshot’s different timestamp as an unexpected configuration change.

This can occur when: A draft is published after its updated_at timestamp was set.

Update the publish description to clarify that the published snapshot’s
config.updated_at is set to the publish time, while other fields are copied from
the stored draft. Keep it consistent with the version-snapshot description so
callers do not interpret this timestamp change as an unexpected configuration
change.

Declare config_hash in the publish 409 response.

The publish operation says a draft_changed 409 returns the draft's current config_hash. Its declared 409 schema has only status, message, and reason, so the hash has no typed field. Add config_hash as an optional property to that schema.

Add an optional config_hash string property to the publish operation’s declared
409 response schema, alongside status, message, and reason. Document that it
contains the draft’s current hash when reason is draft_changed; leave the
existing response fields and request-side expected_config_hash unchanged.
