🗄️ Data Integrity & Integration | 🟠 Major | ⚡ Quick winWrite connector health when the outcome changes.
The throttle uses separate keys for success and failure. If a parse failure is written, a valid entry clears
last_error, and another parse failure arrives within one minute, the last failure is suppressed. The connector then appears healthy despite its latest entry being dropped. A database write failure also consumes the throttle interval. Throttle repeated outcomes, but allow transitions to write, and reserve the interval only after a successful write.🤖 Prompt for AI Agents

- SQL is parameterized and table names are
&'static strconstants, so the shared connector health writes cannot be injected (fetch_gcp_connector,record_connector_*) - Wild and malformed bodies:
parse_log_entryrequires a stringlogName; non-JSON,[], wrapped Pub/Sub envelopes and bad trace/span/timestamp inputs are covered by tests - Auth and org scoping: the secret hash is memoised per (connector, hash) in SQL, the org comes from the matched row, and a miss or store failure never poisons the positive cache

🎯 Functional Correctness | 🟡 Minor | ⚡ Quick win
Throttling suppresses changed error messages and the recovery to a healthy state.
The throttle key is (connector_id, succeeded). Within one minute, the handler drops a second, different error, such as a pipeline 503 after a parse failure. The connector's last_error then keeps the older error. This is acceptable for best-effort health tracking. The success writes and failure writes also use separate throttles. A success then a failure then a success inside one interval leaves last_error set, although the connector is healthy. To fix this, clear the opposite outcome's entry when you write, for example self.recent_health_writes.invalidate(&(id, !ok)). This lets a state change always write immediately.

Maple review🟢 Confidence 8/10 · likely safe to merge This head adds only the Google Cloud integration fixes layered on top of the GCP log-push receiver: the connector forgets its last push when log forwarding is switched back on, and the setup/cleanup gcloud scripts stop treating a soft-deleted service account as a check failure. Safe to merge.

…bout a refused log push A setup script run reports what it applied as an entry on the maple-setup log. The receiver recognises it after authentication, writes it to the connector, and neither stores nor meters it. A push refused over the plan limit now shows on the connection, and every last_error text is one sentence of cause and one of action.
…on at once A written failure frees the success write, so the connection does not keep reading as rejecting after Pub/Sub delivered the entry again. The span's reject reason no longer carries the customer's remedy text.
Maple review🟢 Confidence 7/10 · likely safe to merge Adds the GCP Cloud Logging Pub/Sub push receiver to the Rust ingest gateway: a new route, a connector resolver with positive/negative caches and throttled health writes, the LogEntry-to-OTLP mapping, and four counters. The logic matches the existing Cloudflare receiver and is unit-tested; one earlier finding is still open.

🗄️ Data Integrity & Integration | 🟠 Major | ⚡ Quick win
A non-2xx collector answer is treated as an accepted entry, then metered again on each Pub/Sub redelivery.
In WriteMode::Forward or WriteMode::Dual, an org that is not ClickHouse-ready goes through forward_to_collector. For any non-5xx status, relay_collector_response returns Ok(response) with the collector's own status. An OTel collector under memory pressure answers 429, and it can also answer 400 or 413. Each of these statuses reaches the Ok(response) arm in this function, so the handler does all of the following:
- It calls
record_health(connector_id, None), which marks the connector healthy. - It calls
usage.recordandtracker.track, which bills the entry. - It returns
GcpPushOutcome::Accepted, so the span readsOkand thegcp_entrymetric is incremented.
The relayed 429 or 4xx is not a Pub/Sub ack, so Pub/Sub delivers the same entry again. Every redelivery bills the entry again, and the entry may never be stored. The Cloudflare path has the same relay behavior. Here the impact is larger: Pub/Sub retries every rejected entry, one entry per request, for up to the retention period.
Check the status before you record success or meter. When the status is not a success, record ENTRY_NOT_STORED and return an error so that no usage is billed.

severityto "Severity" without numbers, so the numbers follow the OpenTelemetry Collector's Cloud Logging encoding. Severity text is the OTel short name in upper case, which is what Maple's severity facets and queries match on.gcp.audit.*,user.email,rpc.response.status_code).gcp.resource.labels.*. Without them a managed-service entry (gcp/cloudsql_database) does not say which instance it came from.httpRequestand no payload, so the body is built from the request line, in the format the Cloudflare receiver uses.LogEntryis a JSON object with a stringlogName. Everything else in an entry is optional to the mapping.id,secret_hash,org_idandlogs_enabledfromgcp_connectorsand writeslast_received_at,last_error,updated_atand, for a setup report,applied_logs_enabled,applied_metrics_enabledandsetup_reported_at.INGEST_KEY_CACHE_TTL_SECS, 60 seconds by default), in both directions. It is not counted as data loss and leaveslast_received_atandlast_erroruntouched.[A-Za-z0-9_-]{1,128}; anything else is a 401 before any lookup. The ids feat(integrations): Google Cloud connectors (project, folder, organization) and setup script #1321 generates are UUIDs.last_received_atandlast_errorare written at most once per connector and outcome per minute. Pub/Sub delivers one entry per request, so an unthrottled write is oneUPDATEper log line. A written failure frees the next success write, so an error does not stay on the connection after Pub/Sub delivered the entry again: at most one failure and two successes are written per connector and minute.maple.gcp.connector_idis recorded only once the id is well-formed. The secret reaches no span, log line, metric label or stored column.operation,split,errorGroups,metadata,apphub*. No dedupe byinsertId: Pub/Sub delivery is at-least-once, so a redelivered entry is stored again.Review notes
Health-write throttle, suggestion to clear the opposite outcome's throttle entry on each write so a state change is written at once: taken in one direction only. Clearing both ways makes every alternation between accepted and refused entries an
UPDATEunder partial backpressure. Clearing the success entry when a failure is written keeps the rate bounded (one failure and two successes a minute) and removes the case where a connection kept reading as rejecting after the redelivered entry was accepted.cloud.account.idwhen the resource has noproject_idlabel: the monitored resource types that belong to a project carry that label, and the fallback covers the rest through aprojects/<id>/logs/...logName. Entries without either are organization, folder or billing-account entries, which have no project, so the attribute is left out for them by design. The acked drop is recorded with
error.type = decode, so it follows the gateway's existing rule that a rejection which loses the sender's data is anErrorspan even though the response is a 200. The Cloudflare receiver's parse rejection keeps its current classification; changing it is outside this PR.A removed connector keeps working until its cache entry expires (
INGEST_KEY_CACHE_TTL_SECS), the same as the Cloudflare receiver and ingest keys. When the gateway forwards to a collector, a relayed non-2xx collector response is returned as-is and Pub/Sub retries it. That is the shared path's behaviour, unchanged here.
Deploy order: the connector lookup selects
gcp_connectors.logs_enabledand a report writes theapplied_*columns, so the migration in feat(integrations): Google Cloud connectors (project, folder, organization) and setup script #1321 has to be applied before this binary serves the route. Until then the route answers 503 and every other route is unaffected; no connector can exist at that point. This receiver has to be deployed before the API of feat(integrations): Google Cloud connectors (project, folder, organization) and setup script #1321. Every setup script sends a report. A receiver that does not know reports stores the one sent through the topic as a log line, and the connection stays at
