The reason is kept only when it reads like one of Google's codes; the answer's text is still never stored.

A host project without billing is told apart from a missing role: Google answers it with a bare 403, so its sentence is recognised to choose Maple's own message and is not kept.
…ry case they show in The no-billing answer is recognised by Google's own phrase, not by any sentence that names billing. A rate limit keeps its quota advice when part of the read succeeded, a failed request no longer reads as an unanswered one, and the cut-short note is true for queries a budget skipped. Google's reason code is back in the status at the end.

Brings in main's move to effect-orm through the layers below. The poll-state columns and gcp_resources are declared as PG.tables, and their migration is generated again on top of 20261010004411_gcp_connectors (20261010004938_gcp_metrics_poller, replacing the drizzle-kit one). The foreign key takes the generator's default name, ..._fk. The project count in GcpConnectorService and the purge of gcp_resources are on the new query layer.
…ect-orm Same statements as before. The lease claim is still one conditional UPDATE ... RETURNING, the inventory sync still upserts by (connector_id, name) from the proposed row and then deletes what the sync did not return, and a billing hold still moves the lease of every enabled connector of the organization. effect-orm has no NULLS FIRST, so the due list orders by (lease IS NULL) DESC, lease, id: never polled first, as before. Timestamps are epoch milliseconds from the tables, so nextWindow and the resource mapping take and return numbers.

F2 · Warning · correctness
Only status === 402 gets a hold. A 401/403 refusal — isIngestRefusal in upstream-body.ts covers these, and CloudflareAnalyticsService.ts:199 holds them with PLAN_BLOCKED_BACKOFF_MS — falls through to NOT_STORED ("Maple retries in 5 minutes. Nothing to do."). The watermark is not advanced, so the connector is due again on the next tick and re-queries Google's 46 Monitoring calls per connector for a window it can never store, while the customer is told nothing is wrong.
Classify the status with `isIngestRefusal(error.status)` and pass a short `holdUntilMs` for the non-billing refusal, as the Cloudflare poller does, instead of reporting it as a transient storage failure.

In `packages/backend/src/services/integrations/GcpMetricsService.ts:523-526`: An ingest 401/403 is retried every tick with no backoff, unlike billing.
Only `status === 402` gets a hold. A 401/403 refusal — `isIngestRefusal` in `upstream-body.ts` covers these, and `CloudflareAnalyticsService.ts:199` holds them with `PLAN_BLOCKED_BACKOFF_MS` — falls through to `NOT_STORED` ("Maple retries in 5 minutes. The watermark is not advanced, so the connector is due again on the next tick and re-queries Google's 46 Monitoring calls per connector for a window it can never store, while the customer is told nothing is wrong.
Suggested fix: Classify the status with `isIngestRefusal(error.status)` and pass a short `holdUntilMs` for the non-billing refusal, as the Cloudflare poller does, instead of reporting it as a transient storage failure.
Verify the problem exists at that location before changing it, and keep the fix to those lines.

🎯 Functional Correctness | 🟡 Minor | ⚡ Quick win
Classify every billing sentence as BILLING_DISABLED before you check for a disabled service.
reasonFromMessage maps a message to BILLING_DISABLED only when it contains the exact phrase "requires billing". Any other message that contains "is disabled" maps to SERVICE_DISABLED.
Some Google refusals about billing use different wording. One example is "The billing account for the owning project is disabled in state closed." If a 403 like that arrives without an ErrorInfo detail, the code reports SERVICE_DISABLED. The connection then tells the customer to run the setup script again to switch on an API. That does not fix the cause, which is the billing account.
Check for any mention of billing before the SERVICE_DISABLED check.

Google Cloud metrics and resource poller: PR C of the GCP integration, on top of #1321.
Every 5 minutes the alerting Worker reads a curated set of Cloud Monitoring metrics for each connector that has
metrics_enabledand ships them through the ingest gateway as OTLP. Hourly it syncs the connector's resource inventory (its projects, and the resources behind the metrics) into Postgres. A connector is one scope (a project, a folder or an organization) and both Google APIs are queried at that scope, so a poll costs about one call per curated metric however many projects the scope holds.packages/domain/src/gcp-metrics.ts(@maple/domain/gcp-metrics): the curated metric table and asset type list. Sources: Workers limits, limitsin the Wrangler configuration.timeSeries.listpageConnectors are taken least recently polled first (the lease column is never cleared and doubles as that order), so a failing connector cannot pin itself to the front. A connector that does not fit waits. A poll that runs out of budget keeps what it read, moves its watermark, and says in

last_metrics_errorandlast_resources_errorare shown as they are, so each is one sentence of cause and one of action, with Google's status at the end.<S>is<API> returned <http status> <CODE>[, <REASON>],<API> request failed,<API> request timed outor<API> answered with an unexpected body. The <host project> has no active billing account, and <API> only answers for projects that have one. Run the setup script again: it switches the API on. (<S>)Maple can't sign in as this connection's read-only service account yet. After a setup run Google needs a few minutes to accept the new grant, and Maple retries every 5 minutes. If this stays, the account does not exist, or the grant to Maple is missing or blocked by an organization policy: run the setup script and read its last lines. (<S>)Maple can no longer sign in as this connection's read-only service account. The account was deleted, or the grant to Maple was removed or is blocked by an organization policy. Run the setup script again: it restores both, or says what blocks it. (<S>)Google denied Maple's read of <scope>: the read-only roles are missing. Run the setup script again: it grants them. A new grant can take a few minutes. (<S>)Google rate-limited the <API> API for the <host project>. Maple retries in 5 minutes. If this repeats, raise that API's quota on the project.
