Summary

Patch release with the fixes merged in #438.

Version bumped in pyproject.toml, json2xml/__init__.py, and uv.lock. Release notes added to HISTORY.rst and RELEASE_NOTES.md. json2xml-rs stays at 0.6.0; no Rust sources changed.

Test plan

  • make check-all: lint, ty, 100% coverage
  • lat check
  • make dist builds sdist and wheel
  • After merge: tag v7.1.1 and uv publish dist/* per CONTRIBUTING

Summary by Sourcery

Release json2xml 7.1.1 with improved JSON diagnostics, broader UTF-8 input compatibility, and updated package metadata.

Bug Fixes:

  • Improve JSON reader errors by including the decoder's line and column information.
  • Accept a leading UTF-8 byte order mark across file, URL, string, and stdin JSON inputs.

Enhancements:

  • Update the Python package to version 7.1.1 while keeping the Rust accelerator at version 0.6.0.

Documentation:

  • Add 7.1.1 release history and release notes, including migration guidance and verification details.

Tests:

  • Ensure the test suite type-checks under ty 0.0.83.

Bump the package version and record the 7.1.1 fixes in HISTORY.rst
and RELEASE_NOTES.md: decoder positions in reader errors, UTF-8 BOM
acceptance, and the ty 0.0.83 test fixes.

</code_context>
<issue_to_address>
**nitpick:** Replacing the `json2xml 7.1.0` section with the 7.1.1 section deletes the 7.1.0 highlights and migration guidance from `RELEASE_NOTES.md`. Readers using the release notes cannot find the documented behavior changes introduced in 7.1.0, even though older release sections remain in the file.

**Suggested fix:** Add the 7.1.1 section above the existing 7.1.0 section instead of deleting the 7.1.0 content.
