finto can serve credentials to clients by binding to an interface alias. While this does require finto be run as root (as it will listen on port 80), it is quick and simple to setup.
First, create and confirm your alias:
$ ifconfig lo:0 169.254.169.254 up # on Linux
$ ifconfig lo:0
lo:0: flags=73<UP,LOOPBACK,RUNNING> mtu 65536
inet 169.254.169.254 netmask 255.255.0.0
loop txqueuelen 0 (Local Loopback)
$ ping -c1 -t1 169.254.169.254 >/dev/null && echo success
success
