Opening unread mail starts a list refresh. If the user returns through Inbox and opens another conversation before that refresh finishes, a queued selection restore can reopen the previous conversation.

Cancel pending mailbox and split selection restores when a conversation opens by click, Enter, or J/K. The newly opened conversation stays selected after the delayed refresh completes. Add unit coverage for each entry point, a deterministic Electron regression in light and dark themes, and an acceptance criterion.

Validation:

  • Reproduced the previous behavior with a held list response before the fix.
  • npm run verify:fast passed: type checks, lint, and 1,671 unit tests.
  • Production build and 60 affected E2E tests passed across reading, splits, triage, search, and seeded mail.
  • Inspected reader screenshots in light and dark themes.
