Summary

Updates how the docs describe global volume write behavior (DOCS-510). The previous text said global volumes suit workloads that "write data infrequently" and are not a replacement for network volumes. That understated what global volumes support. The new text explains that they are designed for widely read data such as model weights, that you can write to them, including large files such as checkpoints or per-request outputs, and that writes can be slower than on a network volume. It also says when to use a network volume instead.

Changes

  • storage/globalvolume/overview.mdx: Replaced the second intro paragraph with the wording the Runpod docs team supplied.
  • pods/storage/types.mdx: Updated the matching paragraph in the Global volume section so it agrees with the overview, phrased for Pods.
