Issue tracker for the Ruby Perth meetup — mainly presentation proposals, topic requests, and suggestions for improving our monthly events.

Propose a talk — browse open proposals or open a new one.
- Anything Ruby-related is fair game, even tangentially: Ruby internals, Rails features, web dev, accessibility, tooling, language comparisons, industry commentary, and more
- Speakers from outside the Ruby community are very welcome — designers, dev tool advocates, accessibility experts, academics, or visiting tech folk

- When: 2nd last Wednesday of each month — RSVP via meetup.com
- Where: See the meetup.com event page for the current venue, map links and photos
- Timing: Doors from 5:00pm; we aim to start around 5:20pm
- Arriving late? Event info includes a "rapid" contact method — send a message on arrival and someone will come let you in
A typical evening:
- First presentation — followed by discussion
- Pizza break — ordered shortly after kickoff to arrive ~6–6:30pm, timed around the first talk
- Second half — varies each month, and may include:
- Another presentation or lightning talks
- Weird Ruby — a short snippet of surprising Ruby behaviour, explained (concept thefted from Ruby Melbourne)
- Collective Coding — group "mass pairing" on a code problem; no device needed
- Code Challenge — attendees solve a challenge individually, then compare solutions; bring a device (we'll flag this in advance)
Talks aren't currently recorded, and there's no virtual option yet — both are under consideration. Feedback welcome!
Monthly event costs are covered by Ruby Australia via annual sponsorship arrangements, with venue and drinks provided through in-kind sponsorships.

This is a Ruby Australia event, run under the Ruby Australia Code of Conduct, with associated reporting and enforcement guidelines. All attendees — organisers included — are expected to read, understand and abide by it.

- Attendee safety is always the priority; organisers may ask someone to stop a behaviour or leave the event
- Reportable incidents are handled with Ruby Australia's assistance, per the guidelines above

On language comparisons
Most languages (Ruby included) have unique advantages and idiosyncrasies. We treat those differences as a chance to learn about other environments — and maybe improve our own. Users of other languages are welcome at any time, and we want everyone to have a positive experience.
Constructive language comparisons are acceptable. "Bashing" of other languages is not.
