Personal Profile
A Junior Full-Stack Software Engineer specialising in Web Development with React, JavaScript, CSS and HTML, confident with Node, relational database - PostgreSQL and NoSQL database – MongoDB.
I have recently graduated from the Software Engineering Immersive Bootcamp at General Assembly. The course helped me to strengthen my existing programming skills by building 4 projects, gain experience by working in collaborative environment and project management skills by following strict deadlines and having to plan the workload while working full-time. I am now able to use these skills to increase productivity and optimise the IT side of my current employment and looking to transition career change from Management to Tech.
General Assembly Software Engineering Immersive Projects
Project 4 - Company Planner
Project 3 - Find Me A Doc
- In a group of three planned and white-boarded backend and frontend implementation of a MERN project. Used ‘Trello’ to assign tasks and ‘Slack’ to communicate progress.
- Used React and ‘React-Bootstrap’ for frontend, MongoDB, Express and Node for backend to create RESTful API.
- Solely implemented – backend: schema design, seeding, patient/doctor/review routes; frontend: navigation (including login/logout state), edit profiles functionality based on the type of account, saving postcode coordinates ‘Mapbox Geocoding’ API, leaving reviews functionality.
Project 2 - Whats My Footprint
- In a pair planned and white-boarded the project – a platform to check the carbon footprint of food products by connecting to ‘Carbon Cloud’ API with a private key.
- Used React and ‘react-dom’ to create a frontend application with several routes, used ‘Bulma’ for styling and ‘Nivo’ library to visualize data in charts and pies.
- Implemented ‘useContext’ hook to avoid ‘prop-drilling’ and allow smooth data flow throughout the app.
Project 1 - The Pandemic Game
- Designed and created a custom game instead of replicating an existing game.
- Used JavaScript, HTML and CSS to design a playable game involving a basic game logic - winning, losing, scoring points and being able to restart the game with initial parameters.
- Implemented ‘requestAnimationFrame’ as a core running function as opposed to ‘setTimeout’ to reduce lagging when the game rapidly and frequently creates multiple new DOM nodes.
