Open

Description

@janhn

Actual Behavior

When the latest openapi-schema-validator is installed and one wants to add openapi-core (without version lock), the resulting installed version is 0.14.2.

Expected Behavior

The latest versions these libraries are installable together.

Steps to Reproduce

pip install openapi-schema-validator=0.9.0 openapi-core

OpenAPI Core Version

0.23.1

OpenAPI Core Integration

django

Affected Area(s)

This should be due to this version lock in openapi-core's pyproject.toml:

openapi-schema-validator = ">=0.7.0,<0.9.0"

Anything else we need to know?

We have use cases for openapi-schema-validator where 0.8.1 fails and 0.9.0 works, and at the same time we rely on the latest openapi-core, so this incompatibility is a bit of a hassle. Can it be resolved?

Would you like to implement a fix?

    I get now that in order to get the same level of enforcement through validation with openapi-schema-validator==0.9.0, we have to rewrite our schema to not rely on the discriminator (changed in pr).

    Thanks for the report. The cap was set because 0.9.0 includes the discriminator behavior change you mentioned.

    It’s not a pure no-op bump; it’s a breaking change that will be part of openapi-core 0.24.x
