MouseQuote 🖱️💬

A lightweight Windows app that displays motivational quotes near your mouse cursor at random intervals.

Features

• Shows short quotes near your mouse position
• Quotes appear every 3-7 minutes (randomized)
• Each quote stays visible for 10 seconds
• Dark themed, semi-transparent window
• Always on top, non-intrusive

Installation

pip install -r requirements.txt

Usage

Run the app:

python mousequote.py

The first quote will appear after 30 seconds, then quotes will appear randomly every 3-7 minutes.

Customization

Edit the QUOTES list in mousequote.py to add your own quotes.

Adjust timing by changing these values:

• Quote duration: Line 78 (self.root.after(10000, ...)) - currently 10 seconds
• Interval range: Line 87 (random.randint(180, 420)) - currently 3-7 minutes
• First quote delay: Line 97 (threading.Timer(30, ...)) - currently 30 seconds

Running at Startup (Optional)

1. Press Win + R
2. Type shell:startup and press Enter
3. Create a shortcut to pythonw.exe with the full path to mousequote.py as an argument

Example shortcut target:

C:\Python311\pythonw.exe "D:\Code\mousequote\mousequote.py"

Using pythonw.exe instead of python.exe runs it without a console window.
