Why

Releases need a public home. The extension's repository is private, and its GitHub releases are internal test builds. Teachers install from the Chrome Web Store. The terms also need to say plainly that the extension's code is Nyuchi's and can't be reused.

Releases page: /toddle-enhancement-extension/releases

  • Each version's notes are written from the extension's CHANGELOG.md on staging, in plain words for teachers, newest first.
  • 0.9.0, "Coming soon to the Chrome Web Store", summarises Unreleased:
    • flag visibility: concealed flags are a grey smudge with no colour, only the sidebar's "Show flags" reveals one student, and teachers updating from 0.8.2 stay concealed;
    • the sidebar's staff profiles, a class's subjects and grades, and primary-teacher groups;
    • My classes switching on and off at once;
    • the gradebook and Attendance dashboard rebuilds, and the Excusals tab;
    • the rebuild in closed shadow roots, and the 6 October security reviews.
  • 0.8.2, 0.8.1 and 0.8.0 each have their own condensed entry, dated from the releases. 0.7.1 and 0.7.0 share one entry. 0.6.0 and earlier share one, marked "Before the Chrome Web Store".
  • One line says 0.8.3 to 0.8.13 were test builds for schools piloting the extension, and that their changes arrive together in 0.9.0.
  • Anchors: every version has id="v<version>", so the extension's menu can link to …/releases#v<version>. That includes each test build from 0.8.3 to 0.8.13, and 0.7.0, 0.5.0 and 0.4.3, so a link from any version's menu lands on the right place.
  • No downloads, no zips, no GitHub links. "Add to Chrome" goes to the store listing the site already uses.
  • The data is in src/data/releases.ts, so adding a release is one edit.
  • The page is linked from the extension page (the "How updates reach you" note, plus a Releases button), the footer's Tools column, the sitemap and llms.txt.
  • Historical notes give no prices. 0.7.0 shipped with an organisation price of US$49.99, which would contradict the current one.

Terms

  • A new "Who owns the extension" section (#ownership): the extension and its code belong to Nyuchi Web Services, part of Nyuchi Africa (Private) Limited. All rights reserved, and it isn't open source. A licence grants use, not ownership.
  • "What you may not do" gains a line: no copying, modifying, reusing or redistributing its code, in whole or in part, in another product or service, without written permission.
  • Kept: reading the code to check what it does is welcome, and so is "may not build a competing product".
  • "The short version" and "What a licence lets you do" now say the same.
  • The wording is said once, in ownership (src/data/legal.ts). The extension page and llms.txt repeat it. The extension page's "unpack it and read every line" now adds that reading is welcome but the code isn't licensed for reuse.
  • Privacy and security pages: neither says the code is open source or freely reusable. They only invite schools to review the code, which stays. llms.txt's company line says Nyuchi Africa builds open-source platforms, so its extension entry now says explicitly that the extension is proprietary and not open source.

Prices

The organisation licence is US$149.99 everywhere. The built site mentions only US$149.99 and US$5. A new test fails on any other US$ figure on the extension page, the terms or in llms.txt.

Also

  • legal.ts flag facts now match 0.9.0 as it ships: grey with no colour, nothing on the page brings a flag back, and teachers updating from 0.8.2 stay concealed.
  • latestPatch is now 0.8.13.
  • CHANGELOG entries for all of the above.

Checks

These are the steps of .github/workflows/build.yml and the org lint gate, run locally.

Check Result
npm ci (npm 11.12.1) ok
npm run check (astro check) 0 errors, 0 warnings
npm test (build, vitest, CSP) 96/96 pass; CSP covers 5 inline scripts on 14 pages
node scripts/audit.mjs clean
npm run lint 0 errors
npm run ci:check, npm run format:check clean
markdownlint clean
yamllint clean
JSON validity ok

New tests cover the releases page's anchors, that it has no GitHub links or downloads, its links from the extension page and llms.txt, and the organisation price.

…s it

Releases need a public home: the extension's repository is private and its
GitHub releases are internal test builds.

- /toddle-enhancement-extension/releases: each version's notes in plain
  words for teachers, newest first, from the extension's changelog. 0.9.0
  is coming soon to the Chrome Web Store; 0.8.2, 0.8.1, 0.8.0, 0.7.x and the
  early builds follow, condensed; 0.8.3 to 0.8.13, test builds for pilot
  schools, are one line. Every version has the anchor #v<version> for the
  extension's menu. No downloads, no GitHub links. Data in
  src/data/releases.ts. Linked from the extension page, the footer and
  llms.txt; in the sitemap.
- Terms: the extension and its code belong to Nyuchi Web Services, all
  rights reserved, not open source; a licence grants use, not ownership; no
  copying, modifying, reusing or redistributing its code in another product
  or service without written permission. Reading the code stays welcome;
  building a competing product stays forbidden. Said once in `ownership`.
- Flags facts as 0.9.0 ships them (grey, no colour; 0.8.2 updaters
  concealed); the newest test build is 0.8.13.
- Tests: the releases page's anchors, no downloads or GitHub links, and the
  organisation price is US$149.99 everywhere.
