C/C++ Obfuscator

A small, modern, fully client-side C/C++ source obfuscator built with React, TypeScript and Vite. It is designed to deploy directly to GitHub Pages with no backend, database, API key or external runtime service.

MVP features

  • C / C++ selector
  • Source input editor
  • Obfuscated output editor
  • Identifier renaming with conservative safety filters
  • Basic string obfuscation using C/C++ escape sequences
  • Basic decimal integer constant transformation
  • Preserve comments, character literals and preprocessor directives
  • Copy output
  • Download as .c or .cpp
  • Responsive UI
  • GitHub Actions deployment

Important behavior note

This MVP uses lexical scanning rather than a complete C/C++ parser. It intentionally avoids aggressive transformations that could easily change semantics. Always compile-test generated code, especially when the source uses advanced templates, macros, compiler extensions, generated code or unusual preprocessing.

Installation

Requirements:

  • Node.js 22+
  • npm 10+

Install dependencies:

npm install

Development

Start the local development server:

npm run dev

Then open the URL printed by Vite.

Production build

npm run build

The production files are generated in dist/.

Preview the production build locally:

npm run preview

GitHub Pages deployment

The repository contains .github/workflows/deploy.yml, which builds and deploys the app automatically whenever main is pushed.

The Vite config uses a relative base: './', so the generated static assets work correctly under repository-style Pages URLs:

https://USERNAME.github.io/REPOSITORY/

For this repository, the expected URL is:

https://ntresx.github.io/cpp-obfuscator/

One-time GitHub setting

In the GitHub repository, open Settings → Pages → Build and deployment and select GitHub Actions as the source if GitHub has not already detected the workflow.

After pushing to main, the workflow will build dist/ and publish it through GitHub Pages.

No secrets required

This project has:

  • no backend
  • no database
  • no API key
  • no environment secrets
  • no server-side processing

All source transformation happens in the browser.

Git commands

git init
git branch -M main
