Steps to reproduce
On Debian Bookwork, upgrade all packages using apt update / upgrade, which will raise docker-ce to v29; Docker v29 requires API version 1.44 as minimum - see https://docs.docker.com/engine/release-notes/29/.
Check Nextcloud logs for errors since Nextcloud AppAPI Docker Socket Proxy can't be reached any more.
You'll find an error message telling "GET http://xyz:8780/exapps/app_api/v1.41/_ping` resulted in a 400 Bad Request response:\n{"message":"client version 1.41 is too old. Minimum supported API version is 1.44, please upgrade your client to a newer(truncated)".
Expected behaviour
Docker Socket Proxy should use Docker API v 1.44
Actual behaviour
see above - 400 Bad Request since Docker API version doesn't match any more.
this is fixed at nextcloud/app_api#699
since app_api is a shipped app (shipped with the server) it may be released with the current patch release or the next one.

Can confirm this also happens on Linux Mint, will also not work on Ubuntu.
Btw. this might me the wrong repository since this also happens with the new HArP image.

Today in the server v32.0.2 this fix is not included?
tohuuuuu commentedon Nov 20, 2025
It seems to be missing :-( - AppAPI app is still on v.32.0.0 which was released Sep 27. No fix, no apps working which rely on AppAPI. Sad news.

Unfortunetly no. This will be included in next minor versions.
For Nextcloud 32 you can temporarily apply a patch to fix this: https://patch-diff.githubusercontent.com/raw/nextcloud/app_api/pull/700.patch
For Nextcloud 31 patch is located here: https://patch-diff.githubusercontent.com/raw/nextcloud/app_api/pull/701.patch

Ok, but if I use the fix, will this brake the in integrity-checks?

Workaround (from https://help.nextcloud.com/t/update-appapi-app-manually/236183 pointing to https://www.docker.com/blog/docker-engine-version-29/ ): Downgrade the API version by placing a file named
daemon.jsonwith the following content into/etc/docker/and restart docker daemon:
# systemctl restart dockerWorked for me on Debian 12.
