Leaderboard submission: THE DETECT LAW v8.1 (zero-shot, Llama-3.2-1B + 1B-Instruct) - #216
Conversation
Zero-shot detector: a compiled int32 sequential law with three arms (surprise, contrast, repetition) over per-token statistics from Llama-3.2-1B (base) and Llama-3.2-1B-Instruct, normalised for between-text heterogeneity. Score = law_score = sum of max(z, 0)^2 over the first 1,024 tokens; no training on RAID. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>

respected sir, thank u for merging the previous work this is the updated version and final version. |
Score = sqrt(law_score / 256) = sqrt(sum of max(z, 0)^2), the same ranking as law_score. RAID's find_threshold steps from the human mean in fixed 0.5 steps (max 50), so on law_score's raw 256*z^2 scale it stopped near 30% FPR; on this scale it reaches 5.00% / 1.00% exactly (checked on 4,800 human RAID-train texts scored with this pipeline). sir, could u please eval this final version. |
|
sorry sir ,about the two times eval but this is the final version. |
The engine now runs THE DETECT LAW v8.1: three per-token signals (surprise, contrast and the new repetition signal), a null that allows for each writer's steady style, and per-mode measured constants. law/detect_v81.c is byte-identical to the file used for the official RAID run; law/api_v81.c only loops law_step over a window and reports each signal's z. - Parity with the official A30 run: 120/120 identical verdicts, score correlation 0.99992. Careful mode flagged 1 of 480 held-out human texts (0.21%). - Results carry score = sqrt(law_score/256) and surprise/contrast/ repetition z; the web app shows all three. - facts, README, model card and website updated with the v8.1 measurements (held-out RAID texts and all 11 attacks). v7's official RAID result stays as the verified record; v8.1's official evaluation (liamdugan/raid#216) is marked pending. - make test: both modes under -Werror, UBSan and ASan. v7's law, harness and model card move to archive/v7/. Eval run succeeded! Link to run: link Here are the results of the submission(s): THE DETECT LAW v8.1Release date: 2026-10-07 I've committed detailed results of this detector's performance on the test set to this PR. On the RAID dataset as a whole (aggregated across all generation models, domains, decoding strategies, repetition penalties, and adversarial attacks), it achieved an AUROC of 96.48 and a TPR of 88.99% at FPR=5% and 81.37% at FPR=1%. If all looks well, a maintainer will come by soon to merge this PR and your entry/entries will appear on the leaderboard. If you need to make any changes, feel free to push new commits to this PR. Thanks for submitting to RAID! |

Sir,Thank you for evaluating v8 and sharing the results. I would appreciate Thank you |

Detector. Zero-shot. It has no training on RAID or on any detection data. A compiled integer (int32) sequential law reads per-token statistics from two small open models:
There are three arms. Each sums a centred statistic X = x − c·U:
Each arm is normalised with a variance that allows for differences between texts: ρ·W + κ²·W². The constants c, ρ and κ were measured on human RAID training texts only.
The submitted score is √(law_score / 256) = √(Σ max(z_arm, 0)²). It counts only evidence toward AI, and higher means more likely machine-generated. It ranks texts exactly as the law's integer
law_scoredoes, but on a z scale.Why the z scale:
find_thresholdstarts at the human mean and moves in fixed 0.5 steps, at most 50 of them. On the raw 256·z² scale it would stop near 30% FPR. Tested on 4,800 human RAID-train texts scored with this exact pipeline, the raw scale gives 28–36% FPR, while the submitted scale gives exactly 5.00% and 1.00% in every domain.Input and run.
Texts that are empty after cleaning (only zero-width characters) get score 0.
