Tech Stack

Getting Started

Prerequisites

  • Node.js 24.x (matches the engines field in package.json; Node 25+ fails the engines check)
  • npm

Development

# Install dependencies
npm install

# Start dev server at http://localhost:3000
npm run dev

# Build static export to ./out
npm run build

# Clean build artifacts
npm run clean

Testing

# Run the smoke tests (tests/**/*.test.mjs) with the Node.js built-in test runner
npm run test

# Full verification before committing: lint → typecheck → test (test builds first)
npm run check

The smoke tests live in tests/ and need no extra dependencies. npm test runs next build first so the static-export tests in tests/routes.test.mjs (which need ./out) never skip; npm run test:unit runs the tests without building (the tests/routes.test.mjs export tests skip if ./out is absent; the exact count appears as # skipped N in the output). Lint and typecheck individually with npm run lint and npm run typecheck; npm run check runs all of them in sequence and is the canonical verification command (it covers npm run build because npm test builds first).

Project Structure

app/ → Next.js app directory (pages, layout, global styles)
components/ → UI components (product grid, hero globe, social bar, etc.)
hooks/ → Custom React hooks
lib/ → Utility functions
public/ → Static assets (favicons, product cover SVGs, OG image)
tests/ → Smoke tests (`*.test.mjs`, Node.js built-in test runner; run via `npm test`)
tools/ → Maintenance scripts (`verify.sh` full check, `audit-watch.sh` dependency audit watcher)
vercel.json → Vercel routing config (explicit `/` → `/index` rewrite for the static export)
.github/ → GitHub Actions workflows for CI and Vercel deployment

Deployment

Pushes to main automatically deploy to Vercel via the workflow in .github/workflows/deploy-web-vercel.yml.

The canonical production endpoints are lamplitlabs.com and www.lamplitlabs.com, both served by Vercel.

Vercel's Next.js builder strips the .html extension from static-export pages (out/index.html is served as /index) and does not emit an explicit route for /. vercel.json adds that rewrite so the homepage never depends on implicit directory-index resolution. Keep it in place when changing routing.
