Joris Paret's website

This repository contains the Hugo source for the portfolio. It uses the historical Wowchemy/Hugo Blox v5.6.0 setup and is intentionally not upgraded to the current upstream structure.

Requirements (Windows)

• Git
• A current Go installation. Go is required to download Hugo Modules; the site has been verified with Go 1.26.6.
• Hugo Extended v0.97.3 (not the latest Hugo release). Download hugo_extended_0.97.3_windows-amd64.zip from the v0.97.3 Hugo release, place hugo.exe on your PATH, then open a new PowerShell.

Verify the installation:

hugo version  # must report v0.97.3+extended
go version
git --version

Local development

Clone this source repository and work from its root:

git clone https://github.com/jorisparet/website.git
cd website
hugo server

Open http://localhost:1313. The first build downloads the exact theme modules listed in go.mod; this is expected.

Build the production site:

hugo --gc --minify

The generated static site is written to public/, which is ignored by this repository.

Publishing to GitHub Pages

The generated site is published from the separate jorisparet.github.io repository. Keep the two repositories next to each other, then build directly into the deployment repository:

hugo --destination ..\jorisparet.github.io --gc --minify
cd ..\jorisparet.github.io
git add -A
git commit -m "Publish website updates"
git push origin main

Before committing, inspect git status. GitHub Pages should be configured to publish the main branch at the repository root.
