Editor extensions for copying source files and folder structures to the clipboard as Markdown, ready to paste into a chat with an LLM.
| Directory | Target | What it does |
|---|---|---|
copy-text-selected-files/ |
Visual Studio Code | Copies the contents of the selected files, folders, or open editor as Markdown. PDF, Office, and HWP documents are extracted to Markdown instead of being skipped. |
CopyTextInSolutionExeplorer/ |
Visual Studio 2022+ | The same idea for Solution Explorer: selected files are copied as Markdown headers and code blocks. |
CopyFolderTree/ |
Visual Studio 2022+ | Copies the folder tree of the Solution Explorer selection. |
copy-text-selected-files—npm install, then:npm run compile— webpack bundle (this is what the extension host loads)npm run lintnpm run verify-extract— runs the document extractors over the sample filesnpm test— the extension-host suite, run against both ends of the supported range (VS Code 1.74 and current stable). Usenpm testrather thannpx vscode-test, which skips the bundle step and would test a stale build.npm run coverage— the same suite with coverage. Read the two groups separately:src/reflects the tests that import the TypeScript build directly, whiledist/reflects the bundle the extension host actually loaded. A gap in one may well be covered by the other.
- Visual Studio extensions — open the solution in each directory with Visual Studio 2022 or later and build; the VSIX SDK packages restore from NuGet.
Both are also verified in CI (.github/workflows/): the VS Code extension across Linux, Windows,
and macOS, and the Visual Studio extensions on a Windows runner. Neither workflow publishes
anything — releasing is a separate, manual step.
