Indream Plugin

Edit videos with your AI assistant in Indream Desktop.

First, download Indream Desktop for macOS. Sign in and keep it open while you use the plugin.

Quick start

Copy this prompt into Codex or Claude Code on your computer:

Install the Indream Plugin from https://github.com/indreamai/indream-plugin
for the AI app I am using. Follow its README, complete the setup, and check
the connection to Indream Desktop. Let me know if I need to restart the app
or complete a step in its settings.

Your assistant can run the setup commands for you. For Claude Desktop, use the extension installation steps below.

What you can do

Clean up speech, turn long videos into short clips, create narrated or doodle videos, and make precise timeline edits. Copy a project to preserve a version, generate media, or export the finished video.

Try requests like:

• "Remove long pauses and filler words from this interview."
• "Turn this recording into three short vertical clips."
• "Make a narrated video from this article."
• "Copy this project as Launch v2 before changing the ending."

Codex and Claude Code include guided Skills and MCP tools. Claude Desktop includes MCP tools. Available tools depend on your Indream Desktop version.

Manual installation

Clone or download this repository:

cd indream-plugin

Codex and Claude Desktop builds require Node.js 22 or later and pnpm 11. Claude Desktop packaging also requires zip. Running the packaging tests requires unzip.

Codex

pnpm install --frozen-lockfile --ignore-scripts

codex plugin marketplace add "$PWD/dist/codex"
codex plugin add indream-plugin@indream

Start a new Codex chat after installation.

Claude Code

Start Claude Code with the plugin enabled for that session:

claude --plugin-dir "$PWD"

Describe your video, or use a Skill such as /indream-plugin:video-editor or /indream-plugin:auto-edit.

Claude Desktop

pnpm build:mcpb

Open Claude Desktop's extension settings and install dist/indream-plugin.mcpb. Then ask Claude to check its connection to Indream Desktop.

Using the plugin

Describe the result you want. The assistant selects the appropriate tools and discovers their current capabilities from Indream Desktop. Codex and Claude Code also use Skills to guide the workflow. For narrated document and doodle videos, review the proposed script and production cost before creation.

To preserve a version before editing, ask for a project copy. You can copy between Local and Cloud projects, choose a new title and description, and keep editing without changing the original.

This repository contains Skills, host manifests, packaging scripts, and the Claude Desktop MCP transport adapter. See the contributor guidelines in the source repository.

pnpm build produces both dist/codex and dist/indream-plugin.mcpb. Use pnpm build:codex or pnpm build:mcpb to build one format.
