This closes #896 and #1218

Summary by CodeRabbit

  • New Features
    • Problem statements support multiple language- and format-specific entries, including Markdown, HTML, and PDF, with associated files.
    • Problem pages display language and file tabs; editors can add, rename, switch, edit, and delete statements.
    • Statement content is rendered according to its format, with improved language and file selection.
    • Imports, exports, migrations, and synchronization support the new statement format while retaining legacy compatibility.
  • Bug Fixes
    • Search indexing reflects statement content, including after changes.
    • Upload and indexing failures are now reported or logged instead of silently ignored.
    • Validation prevents invalid filenames, duplicate entries, empty content, and missing referenced files.

Walkthrough

Problem statements are stored as separate, named entries with language and file or content data. Problem handlers, editor pages, and templates load, validate, edit, and render these entries. Importers and migration scripts convert problem content to the statement format. Import and export paths use statement manifests. Elasticsearch and Sonic index statement content and respond to statement updates.

Change: Feature

Merge Risk: Moderate · up to 0840f

Problem creation and imports can leave statements missing after file failures; exports, rendering, search, and migration also have unresolved cases. Address these before merging unless the affected workflows and recovery costs are explicitly accepted.

P1 Badge Include source statements in referenced exports

When exporting a copied/reference problem that has not been edited, copy() now stores empty content and creates no statement rows, so this direct getStatements(pdoc) call returns an empty list. The detail handler explicitly falls back to the source problem, but this export path does not; its generated manifest is therefore statements: [], and importing that package creates a problem with no statement. The browser problem-download API has the same missing reference fallback.

P2 Badge Update the known-file set after renaming a statement file

When an existing PDF-backed statement is renamed on the edit page, the server rename succeeds and e.file is changed, but knownFiles still contains only the old filename. The submit handler subsequently rejects the form as referencing a nonexistent file, so users cannot save immediately after renaming a statement file without reloading the page.

🩺 Stability & Availability | 🟡 Minor | ⚡ Quick win

A stale file reference in one statement aborts the whole domain export.

delAdditionalFile does not update statement rows. A statement can therefore keep a file that no longer exists in additional_file. For a reference problem, the edit handler checks file against the source problem's additional_file. Export checks the copy's own pdoc.additional_file, so the check can fail there too.

In either case, the ValidationError thrown inside statements.map propagates out of ProblemModel.export. The function then never creates the zip for any problem in the domain.

Skip or log the bad entry, so one problem does not block the export of all other problems.

🎯 Functional Correctness | 🟠 Major | 🏗️ Heavy lift

Require a file-backed PDF statement.

If a text entry is renamed to problem.pdf, it keeps content but has no file. The editor’s submit checks permit that shape. Manifest import also permits a .pdf name with a source. This renderer then requests problem.pdf as an additional file, so the statement does not display. Reject PDF entries without a file when saving or importing them, rather than treating the statement name as a file reference.

Reindex dependent reference problems when statements change.

ProblemModel.getStatements follows pdoc.reference when a problem has no local statement rows. A reference problem can therefore index content from another problem. This listener updates only the document named by the problem/setStatements event. When the source statements change, dependent reference problems keep stale Sonic content until a full reindex runs. Reindex dependent documents or emit updates for them.

Remove the empty problem if an upload fails.

ProblemModel.add now creates the problem with empty content. If a config, test-data, or image upload rejects, Promise.all(tasks) stops execution before this statement write. The failed import leaves a problem without its description. Roll back the created problem on upload failure, or otherwise ensure that the statement is saved before the import exits.

sed -n '223,325p' packages/hydrooj/src/model/problem.ts

Reject statement entries without non-empty content or file.

parseStatements accepts an entry with only name and lang. ProblemModel.addWithId then creates the problem with empty legacy content, and setStatements stores a statement row without either source field. The problem can therefore be created with no statement content.

Update parseStatements to require each statement entry to have a non-empty
string content or file field in addition to valid name and lang values; return
null when both source fields are absent or empty.

🟠 Major · Rollback the problem when file preparation fails. · problem.ts:1050-1066

🗄️ Data Integrity & Integration | 🟠 Major | 🏗️ Heavy lift

Rollback the problem when file preparation fails.

ProblemCreateHandler.post inserts the problem with empty content, then awaits the rename and additional-file tasks before calling problem.setStatements. If a queued task rejects, the handler exits with no statement rows and does not delete the created problem. Add a recovery boundary that restores successfully moved user files and removes the new problem before rethrowing. Keep the user-file metadata update after all file and statement operations succeed.

Do not rename the stored file before the form is saved.

The rename_files request runs when the filename input changes. The statement rows persist only when the form is submitted. If the user leaves without saving, the stored statement still references the old file name. That file no longer exists, so the PDF statement fails to load.

Change only e.name and keep e.file on the existing file. This also removes the create-page restriction.
