fix(hooks): bg-task-stop-guard says when a background subagent is actually done — v0.45.1 (BRO-2815) - #135
Conversation
…annot match early — v0.45.1 (BRO-2815) Dogfood on a real Paseo turn (agent acb1ab0b): the guard blocked and the session waited in the foreground, but its until-loop grepped the subagent's output file (its transcript, which holds its own prompt) for the expected token and matched in 2 s. The re-prompt now says so and names the completion condition: a whole-file grep for "stop_reason":"end_turn" (tail -n1 misses it: an attachment line follows). Test + 16th mutant pin the wording. …transcript grep, says a subagent is done (BRO-2815) Stratum B round 1 (6, AXES 2,2,1,0,1) reproduced that end_turn matches early in 60/359 real subagent transcripts (SendMessage resumes, own-shell wakes) and never appears in 14 (synthetic session-limit end). No grep on the transcript proves completion: the re-prompt now makes the delivered <task-notification> the signal, a grep only a cue, and restores the left-behind-shell warning. CHANGELOG corrected. P20 Cross-Review: round ledgerBoth cross-vendor CLIs were unavailable this session: codex reported "workspace is out of credits", and Gemini returned
Round-2 minors are taken at 988f411 and 406f0f6: a test pin plus a 17th mutant for the restored warning, and the CHANGELOG now names its sample. Text and test only. 41/41 cases pass and 17/17 mutants are killed. Verdict: PASS (10/10 at round 2). |
What
This is a follow-up to #134, found by running it on a real Paseo turn (agent
acb1ab0b, sessioncc0aedf2). That turn launched a background subagent and ended on "Reviewer launched; I will wait for its notification."bg-task-guard.jsonllogged"verdict": "BLOCK"on subagenta4ee42e94fceebcd3.The re-prompt now warns about exactly that, and names the completion condition:
until grep -q '"stop_reason":"end_turn"' FILE. Earlier turns carrytool_use.tail -n1would miss it. The wait greps the whole file.Evidence
tests/bg-task-stop-guard.test.shpasses 41/41, with 16/16 mutants killed. The newsubagent-waitmutant drops the warning, and the suite catches it.hook-python-isolationpasses 56/56.P20
