Privatus Analytics for Stepper

A Stepper app for Privatus Analytics.

Why

Cookie pop-ups make visitors leave, and many of the ones who stay click "no". Bots fill your numbers with fake visits. So your reports end up showing only part of the picture.

Privatus Analytics counts visits without cookies, so there is no pop-up to show. It filters out bots, so the numbers you see are real people.

This app brings those numbers into your Stepper workflows. Post a daily report to Slack. Add a row to a sheet each week. Get a message when a big wave of visitors arrives, or when someone signs up.

What it does

Triggers (start a workflow)

Trigger Starts when
New Goal Conversion A goal of your site is completed again, like a sign-up or a purchase. Pick one goal or watch all of them.
Traffic Spike The number of people on your site right now reaches a number you pick. It starts once per wave.
Daily Summary Once a day, after midnight in your site's timezone, with yesterday's visitors, pageviews, top pages and top referrers.

Actions (use in a workflow)

Action Gives you
Get Stats Visitors, visits, pageviews, views per visit, bounce rate, visit time and revenue for a period, with the change from the period before or last year.
Get Top Pages, Referrers and More A ranked list of pages, entry or exit pages, referrers, channels, UTM values, countries, languages, devices, browsers, systems, custom events or goals.
Get Visitors Over Time One row per hour, day, week or month. Good for sheets and charts.
Get Goal Conversions Every goal with its completions, conversions, conversion rate and change.
Get Live Visitors How many people are on the site right now, and what they are looking at.
List Sites The websites in your workspace.

Every action only reads numbers. Nothing in your Privatus Analytics account is changed.

Connect your account

  1. Log in to Privatus Analytics. The free plan has 10,000 events a month and 3 sites, with no card needed.
  2. Open Workspace settings, then API tokens, and click Create token. Read access to analytics is enough.
  3. Copy the token. It starts with pat_ and is shown only once.
  4. In Stepper, add a Privatus Analytics connection and paste the token.

Your site needs the Privatus Analytics tracker so there are numbers to read:

<script defer src="https://privatusstats.com/js/pa.js" data-site="pa_YOURSITEID"></script>

To count your own events, like a sign-up, call window.privatus.track('signup') in the browser. See the docs.

Use it in your own Stepper team today

Stepper lets any team add its own private apps. You need Node.js 20 or later and a Stepper account.

npm install -g @stepper-io/apps
git clone https://github.com/Privatus-Analytics/stepper-app.git
cd stepper-app
npm install
stpr-apps login # paste a token from https://app.stepper.io/private-apps
stpr-apps push # uploads version 1 as a draft
stpr-apps promote --ver 1

Develop

npm install
npm test # type check and unit tests
npm run check:stepper # build with Stepper's own bundler
PRIVATUS_LIVE=1 npx tsx --test test/live.test.ts

The live test talks to the real API. With PRIVATUS_API_TOKEN set it also reads your sites and stats (read-only).

The API is described in the API docs and the OpenAPI file.
