feat(devices): wire up the Hitscan driver controls - #1231
Load @openmouse/protocol/drivers/hitscan/hid in the lazy driver chunk and open the client before its first status read.
Register the hitscan family (advanced section + debounce). Sleep stays hidden; its units are unresolved.
Polling rate, DPI stages/colours, lift-off, Motion Sync, angle snapping, ripple control and button remapping render from the driver status with no brand-specific code.
npm run check passes against the published 0.47.0 (415 tests + production build). Not tested on Hitscan hardware yet.
Note
Add Hitscan device family support to controller, drivers, and traits
Registers the Hitscan HID client class so its device connections open before use in controller.ts
Loads the Hitscan HID driver module in the shared dynamic-import sequence and merges its exports in driver-classes.ts
Adds a Hitscan family entry in traits.ts: Hitscan devices get the advanced settings section and debounce card, but not sleep or signal cards
Adds card-availability test coverage for the Hitscan family in availability.test.ts

Walkthrough
The driver loader and controller now include the Hitscan HID client. The Hitscan family enables the advanced section and debounce. An availability test checks that debounce is enabled while sleep and signal cards remain disabled.
Changes: Hitscan HID device support
Layer / File(s)
Summary
Load and activate the Hitscan HID client src/device/driver-classes.ts, src/device/controller.ts
The driver module type and loader include the Hitscan HID module. The controller opens Hitscan clients during activation.
Define Hitscan traits and verify card availability src/device/traits.ts, src/features/devices/cards/availability.test.ts
The Hitscan family enables the advanced section and debounce. The test checks that sleep and signal cards remain disabled even when their values are present.
OpenMouse-Project/openmouse#1227: Moved driver loading behind asynchronous registry and controller flows, which precede the shared lazy module contract extended here.

Merge Risk: Minimal · up to 5f326
No concrete merge-blocking issue is identified in this review scope. Hardware behavior remains untested, so normal device validation is still warranted.
Security architecture risk: Low · up to ca108
Hitscan follows the existing device-selection and activation flow. No new permission bypass is demonstrated, but the published driver's device access, settings validation, and failure recovery could not be verified.
Retained concerns
No architecture-level concerns identified.
Security review details
Security Blast Radius
inferred — At the application layer, device access starts with an enumerated or picked HIDDevice passed to the existing client factory. The new driver therefore enters the existing local-device authority boundary. Its internal write targets and any import-time activity cannot be bounded from the available application source alone.
Trust Boundaries and Controls
observed — Native WebHID selection uses the existing picker or previously authorized-device enumeration. The existing Bridge alternative uses companion-device enumeration rather than a browser picker grant. The PR does not change these routes or their filter definitions.
Resilience and Maintainability Implications
observed — The pre-existing generic mouse activation catch clears active state without closing the failed client there. Selection and reload-reconnect loops explicitly close failed candidates, but picker-connect and HID-connect error paths do not provide the same generic cleanup. Hitscan now explicitly opens on this path; retained resources and any security consequence remain unverified.
Hardening Proposals
proposed — Give the activation owner a consistent close-on-failure obligation before releasing client references, including picker-connect and HID-connect failures. This would make authorized-device session cleanup independent of individual callers.

- Load @openmouse/protocol/drivers/hitscan/hid in the lazy driver chunk
and open the client before its first status read, like the other
report-8 flash drivers.
- traits: register the "hitscan" family with the advanced section and
debounce, so the driver's 0-8 ms debounce card appears. Sleep stays
off; the driver hides it because its units are unresolved.
Polling rate, DPI stages and colours, lift-off, Motion Sync, angle
snapping, ripple control and button remapping render from the status
the driver publishes, with no brand-specific code.
Needs the @openmouse/protocol release with the Hitscan adapter
(OpenMouse-Project/mouse-protocol#255).
Macroscope's review found this PR requires human approval — This PR adds a new Hitscan HID integration, including automatic client opening and user-facing DPI, polling, debounce, processing, and button controls derived from device status. The change is localized but introduces a new hardware path and should receive human review; the supplied test comment is already addressed at the current head.
