Yiyang Hu

Part III (MASt) student in Applied Mathematics at the University of Cambridge; BSc Mathematics (First Class), University of Warwick.

Interests: numerical analysis and scientific computing; inverse problems and reliable data-driven modelling, in particular identifying differential equations from data. Areas I would like to move into: fast algorithms and high-performance computing.

Projects

  • URSS_2026: recovering the Fokker–Planck equation from density data with pointwise and weak SINDy (Python). Undergraduate research project supervised by Dr Radu Cimpeanu, University of Warwick.
  • Spectral-Methods-in-PDEs: Fourier and Chebyshev pseudospectral methods in MATLAB, compared with finite differences and finite elements. Final-year essay supervised by Prof Dwight Barkley, University of Warwick.
