Hello there! 👋

Welcome to a little corner of GitHub for people who get way too excited about making bytes smaller.

Our goal is simple: build fast, safe, and efficient compression and decompression algorithms, mostly in Rust. We love squeezing out performance, hunting down bottlenecks, and making things work without unsafe wherever possible.

🚀 Our projects

  • mbrotli — Brotli compression and decompression in safe Rust. Streaming, parallel compression, and lots of performance tuning.
  • mzstd — Zstandard compression and decompression in safe Rust, with byte-identical encoding and parallel compression.
  • ngx_mbrotli — Brotli for NGINX, powered by Rust. Supports multithreaded compression using NGINX thread pools.
  • ngx_mzstd — Zstandard for NGINX. Same multithreaded goodness, different algorithm.
  • borrowed-buf — A tiny Rust library for working with uninitialized buffers safely and efficiently on stable Rust.

❤️ Come hang out!

Love compression? Have an idea? Found a bug? Want to make something faster?

Issues, pull requests, and friendly discussions are always welcome!

Less memory. Fewer bytes. More speed. More fun. ⚡

  1. mbrotli mbrotli Public

Google Brotli rewritten in 100% safe Rust, byte-identical where applicable, but with a Rust-native API, SIMD, compression + decompression, no_std and modern parallelism.

    Rust 34 4

  2. ngx_mbrotli ngx_mbrotli Public

Brotli compression for NGINX, written in Rust with ngx-rust and the mbrotli encoder.

    Rust 4

  3. mzstd mzstd Public

Zstandard (RFC 8878) rewritten in 100% safe Rust, byte-identical where applicable, but with a Rust-native API, SIMD, compression + decompression, no_std and modern parallelism.

    Rust 26 1

  4. ngx_mzstd ngx_mzstd Public

Zstandard compression for NGINX, written in Rust with ngx-rust and the mzstd encoder.
