No releases means no version numbers worth displaying. The internal __version__ stays for telemetry; pyproject.toml keeps a static version.

Remove the release-please workflow, its config files, the open release PR, and the user-facing version display (--version flag, welcome screen byline). No release automation: main stays green without a perpetually open release PR.
