A desktop workspace for orchestrating teams of AI coding agents.
One router agent leads — it investigates, designs, and writes the critical code — and delegates execution to worker agents, each running in its own real terminal. They coordinate over a local, bidirectional MCP tunnel: agent-to-agent (A2A), entirely on your machine.
Coding agents are good at doing one thing at a time. The bottleneck isn't the model — it's that a single agent works serially, holds one context, and edits one branch. HyprDesk turns that into a team.
The core idea is a division of labor between two roles:
- The router is the agent you talk to. It does the heavy thinking — reads the codebase, freezes an architectural contract, writes the critical path — and then splits the rest of the work across a set of workers.
- The workers each get one task, one terminal, and (in git repos) their own worktree, so several can write in parallel without ever touching the same line. They report back; the router reviews each diff before merging it in.
The router is a leader, not a dispatcher. When it hits a contradiction in the brief, it stops and asks instead of guessing.
One router delegating in parallel to four workers — each in its own live terminal on an isolated git worktree, reporting back over the local A2A tunnel.
Make delegated, multi-agent software work practical on a single desktop — no cloud fleet, no orchestration server to run, no lock-in to one model vendor:
- Mix engines freely. Claude Code, Codex, and OpenCode can each act as router or worker. The role is injected as a system prompt, so no turn is wasted.
- Real isolation. git worktrees per worker, with the router integrating branches back into
mainafter review — never a blind merge. - Everything local. The tunnel is a small HTTP control server on your machine; you can jump into any agent's terminal at any point.
- A full IDE surface. Built-in file editor and file tree, embedded preview browser, schema-driven settings, and a sober dark / light / high-contrast UI. Built on Tauri v2 (Rust + React).
The project's landing page was built by HyprDesk itself — one router and four workers, ~75 minutes unattended: a scroll-driven WebGL site with a reproducible 44 KB procedural GLB and a verification harness that gates the build on a real GPU.
