I'm Hakeem Gaines, digitally know as (h)gaines.

I'm a data engineering student in Wilmington, Delaware, building practical software with Python, SQL, APIs, analytics, and modern web tools.

My current focus is turning complex datasets into reliable pipelines and useful applications. I care about clear data models, tested code, thoughtful interfaces, and secure access control.

Featured work

  • OnesToManys — A full-stack fashion collection archive built with FastAPI, SQLite, React, Docker, and tested migrations.
  • MediciMess — A team-built historical banking analytics platform with ETL pipelines, financial KPIs, anomaly detection, FastAPI, and Dash.
  • future-proof-HG — A zero-dependency Python CLI for durable Markdown notes, YAML metadata, search, tags, and pytest coverage.
  • MuseumsNotebook — Exploratory analysis of U.S. museum, zoo, aquarium, revenue, and geographic data using Jupyter and pandas.
  • Database-SQLite3 — An interactive Python and SQLite tutor covering SQL fundamentals, joins, indexes, and a capstone.
  • SecondSeven — A collection of tested Python and Java applications exploring OOP, command-line interfaces, and software fundamentals.

Tools I use

Python · SQL · SQLite · pandas · FastAPI · React · JavaScript · Docker · pytest · Git

Currently building

Trainspotting — A new, security-focused evolution of my fashion archive, with authenticated administration and a moderated, source-driven contribution workflow. The repository is private while active development is underway.

I'm currently open to opportunities where I can contribute, keep learning, and grow as a data engineer.
