FlorentinDUBOIS/README.md

Hey there 👋

Nice to meet you! I am Florentin, a French Engineering Manager and former Site Reliability Engineer currently working at Clever Cloud. I lead the Infrastructure team while staying involved in software development, infrastructure operations and the on-call rotation.

I work around distributed systems by operating them and creating applications on top of them. Apache ZooKeeper, Flink, Pulsar, BookKeeper, HBase, Hadoop, Kafka and Warp 10 are some of them. I also played a lot with Kubernetes and etcd clusters during my last mission at OVHcloud.

At Clever Cloud, I also work with Linux, KVM/QEMU, Ceph, networking and load balancing, and automate infrastructure with Ansible and Terraform/OpenTofu. Part of my work involves installing and operating cloud platforms in sovereign and air-gapped environments.

I write a lot of Rust these days, and I also have a background in Go, Java and TypeScript/JavaScript. You can find some of my work in Sōzu, our Rust reverse proxy and load balancer, and Magnetar, an Apache Pulsar client I created around a sans-io core and deterministic simulation testing. I also contribute to the Clever Cloud Rust SDK, our Kubernetes operator, and libraries such as kawa and nlrs.

Outside those projects, I work on pulsar-rs and contribute fixes and improvements to tools and libraries I use, including Apache Pulsar, ZooKeeper's Rust client, Moonpool, Telegraf, Vector and Zed. I also share some of what I learn through technical articles and talks.

I worked at OVHcloud as a technical lead for more than two years, technically leading two products for nearly one year each. The first one was Metrics Data Platform and the other one Public Cloud Load Balancer. Between those two products, I also contributed to creating ioStream, a messaging product as a service. Before that, I began as a software engineer on Metrics Data Platform, which dealt with observability issues at cloud-provider scale.

I started my IT journey with two one-year work-study placements at SII Ouest and aC3, as a junior software engineer.

If you want to discover more about my work, I've written a few blog posts about what I'm working on at Clever Cloud. They explain what we build, the choices behind it and what we learn along the way:

To get in contact, I'm on X under the user @FlorentinDUBOIS.
