Daniel Esambu

Software engineer and M.S. Computer Science candidate at the University of Oklahoma (expected May 2027), actively seeking a full-time software engineer or software developer role. I build reliable, performance-sensitive software and am especially interested in C++, low-latency systems, networking, embedded systems, system design, optimization, and AI.

Alongside my M.S., I hold a B.S. in Computer Science and a B.A. in Mathematics from the University of Oklahoma. I am currently building low-latency C++ projects and deepening my systems-design and performance-engineering skills, while staying open to new technical domains and challenging problems.

Technical focus

  • C++ & performance systems: C++20, low-latency design, concurrent data structures, memory ordering, POSIX mmap, algorithm design, and latency profiling
  • Systems & networking: system design, networking, embedded systems, computer architecture, and Verilog (HDL)
  • Backend & AI: Python, FastAPI, TypeScript, PostgreSQL, Supabase, and AI-powered application development
  • Security: JWT/MFA authentication, row-level security, and PII sanitization

Selected work

Leka — C++20 low-latency limit order book and price-time-priority matching engine with no hot-path allocation, a wait-free SPSC handoff between feed and matching threads, percentile-based latency profiling, and replay validation against Nasdaq TotalView-ITCH 5.0 market data.

Fortuna — AI personal finance app with privacy-by-design architecture: JWT/MFA, row-level security, PII sanitization, and a fault-tolerant AI coaching engine on Anthropic Claude.

pyHoneypot — SSH honeypot that emulates an Ubuntu server to capture attacker credentials and session commands. Built for studying credential harvesting in isolated environments.

Serendipity — Real-time AR platform combining Claude with GPS and weather data to generate personalized quests. HackMIT '25. Won Best Use of ElevenLabs at Hacklahoma '26.

Also

  • Presented peer-reviewed research at ASEE 2026 on math placement and engineering retention (N = 3,672 across five cohorts)
  • President of Out in STEM at OU
  • Fluent in English and French
