This repository contains the code for the landing webpage for the Eisenberg Family Depression Center's code repository: https://code.depressioncenter.org.
A nightly GitHub Action reads all our public repos through the GitHub API, including custom properties such as lab name and URL, documentation URL, and whether a repo is featured. It writes finished HTML into this repository, so search engines and visitors without JavaScript see every repository description and README. Each repo also gets its own page under /repos/. When users click a tile, a side panel opens with the same content, loaded from a file built ahead of time.
- Generated HTML is overwritten. Do not edit it. Edit the page shells and shared header and footer in
templates/, or editstyles/site.cssandscripts/site.js, then run the build. - To build the site yourself:
pip install -r requirements.txt, thenpython scripts/build_site.py. No GitHub account or token is needed. See how to run the build locally. - To re-use this for your own organization, fork the repo and change
ORGandSITE_BASE_URLat the top ofscripts/build_site.py. Keep the ".nojekyll" file. - Preview images can live in the repo they describe, as
images/Repo-preview.png(912x513) andimages/Repo-preview-thumb.png(360x202). If a repo has none, add them here under/images/repo-previews/, named to match the repo exactly, including capital letters. Both must be 16:9. See how to add a repository preview image. - Please remove the copyright notice in the code, especially if you are not affiliated with University of Michigan. However, the license notice at the top of the file (in HTML comments) must remain there, as the code is licensed under the GPLv3.0 or later license.
