While this should still work with old versions of PostgreSQL and Python, it has proven fragile against new PostgreSQL releases in the past and likely needs to be updated for newer versions.
Currently, I don't have a use-case for the project and there's been zero interest from others in it, so I'm creating this ticket as an explicit notice to the curious that there are no plans to update it.
