ASIO settings reset with Focusrite Scarlett 3rd Gen

I’m experiencing an issue with ATK Audio when using the ASIO USB driver with a Focusrite Scarlett 3rd Gen interface.

Every time I launch or reconnect the audio device, ATK Audio resets the ASIO settings instead of keeping my previously selected configuration.

The settings are consistently changed back to:
Sample rate: 44.1 kHz
Buffer size: 16 samples

I normally use different settings, but they are not preserved between sessions. I have to manually change them again each time.
t would be helpful if ATK Audio could retain the selected sample rate and buffer size instead of forcing them back to the default values.

I have already tried several different buffer sizes, setting the sample rate to 48 kHz, and enabling/disabling various available options to see if any of them affected this behavior, but nothing has helped.

Additionally, the list of previously scanned/discovered plugins is cleared every time. This means I have to scan for my plugins again instead of ATK Audio remembering the previously detected plugin list.

Please let me know if you need any additional logs, screenshots, or system information to reproduce the issue.

Unfortunately, nothing has changed. After launching OBS, the Focusrite immediately resets its settings and a notification appears on the taskbar. Plugins also disappear.

https://github.com/atkAudio/PluginForObsRelease/releases/tag/0.34.3 updated this a bit. Also, try deleting the atkaudio plugin settings from OBS file menu > show settings folder > plugins. This feels like a permission issue, meaning that obs or the plugin doesnt have permissions to save settings files to harddrive.

I uninstalled the previous version and installed the version you recommended. That fixed the sample rate and buffer size settings - thank you very much.

However, I’m still having an issue with the plugins. ATK Audio finds them during the scan, but when I restart OBS, they disappear again.

I started wondering whether this could be related to the location "ProgramData" where the program or plugins are installed.

I also tried manually copying the plugin files directly into the relevant folders inside Program Files/obs-studio, but unfortunately that didn’t help either.

When I use OBS’s built-in VST2 plugin support, all of the plugins are detected normally and remain available.

When I click there as you described, I don’t see any folder for ATK Audio plugins at all.

ok. there should be a plugin settings folder for atkaudio-pluginforobs. I updated this again, https://github.com/atkAudio/PluginForObsRelease/releases/tag/0.34.3 . It should now output [atkAudio][SETTINGS] messages to OBS log if there is error in creating/resolving path for config file.
e: Or it could also be duplicate install, i.e. the plugin .dll is loaded from two seemingly valid locations.

Unfortunately, nothing has changed. When I choose the option to open the folder directly from OBS, it opens this folder. There’s nothing related to ATK Audio there at all.

A folder like this is created in ProgramData.

But when I go to the plugins folder in Program Files, I don’t see anything related to ATK Audio there.

Yes, however it does not show any errors related to resolving config path creation. The correct (and default) install path for the plugin is under ProgramData, unless you explicitly want to do portable install.

Could you please explain in a bit more detail and more specifically what I should do?

I’m not sure I fully understood the instructions. I also checked the thread you linked, but I don’t think there is a clear solution there either.

At this point, I’m not really sure what exactly I should try next. Could you please guide me step by step on what I need to check or change?

I removed everything, including OBS and all related folders I could find.

Then I reinstalled OBS and manually copied the DLL file into the obs-plugins folder but unfortunately it didn’t help.

Every time I start OBS, the VST3 audio plugin list is empty. Unless this is somehow expected behavior, which I doubt, it seems that the plugin list is not being saved between sessions.

Unfortunately, I still can’t find the same kind of logs that the user in the linked issue posted. I also don’t know what I need to do to generate those logs or how to make the plugin work correctly.

Do you have any idea what I should try next, or what exactly I should check to diagnose this issue?

I also added all these three relevant files to the Windows Defender exclusions. I did this because I was getting a warning when I clicked the scanner .exe file, but unfortunately that didn’t change anything either.

I’ve only just found where to enable the logging option...

However, every time I close and reopen OBS, that option is unchecked again.

unfortunately the logs show nothing conclusive. If you do a fresh/clean install, ensure that old atkAudio plugin installs are truly removed. After uninstalling/removing, run OBS and check logs that no atkaudio messages appear, and that no atkAudio plugin features are available. Once that is verified, install the plugin by running the installer (no need to copy anything manually).
